What is Actually Up with The USA | TRUMP'S IMPEACHMENT AND THE US POLITICS

Firstly I would like to apologize beforehand for the obsessive amount of GIFs I'll be using in this blog. You’ll understand why it had to be done though when you see how funny Donald Trump GIFs are. So really, you’re welcome

Now, before explaining anything about the whole impeachment situation, we need to first understand the US Politics and how it works.
There are two parties in the US

REPUBLICANS  & DEMOCRATS

In 2016 elections, Donald Trump became president who was a part of the Republicans, whist Hilary Clinton, the opposing party, was a part of the Democrats.

Now, in November 2020, there’s going to be another election where Donald Trump is, yet again, going to stand representing the Republicans, while we yet don’t know who’s going to be standing from the Democrats.
The parties choose their candidate by holding primaries or caucuses in each American state, which are held between January until about June, so that’s when we’ll know who it’s going to be.

As of December 2019, Joe Biden (Joseph R Biden) is currently leading in the polls.
You might remember him from when Obama was president, and he was the Vice President. #Joebama

So clearly, he is a threat to Trump.

So why did Trump get impeached? (first hint: read the line above)

Joe Biden has a son called Hunter Biden, who is a businessman, and has dealt with a lot of companies, including one in Ukraine, in 2014.
So, the United Kingdom was investigating that Ukraine company, as they were being charged on money laundering. That’s the background.
Now US was suppose to give Ukraine 400 million dollars as a foreign aid. But this transaction was stopped by Trump, saying that he wanted to look into it first.

In July, 2019 Trump called the president of Ukraine, and in that phone call, he told him that if you want this money, then Hunter Biden’s money laundering case should be investigated properly.
According to Trump in that phone call, when Joe Biden was the Vice President, he had stopped this investigation.
So, here’s the reason that he got impeached.
Trump was blackmailing the Ukraine President to look into this investigation to get that foreign aid.
He tried to hide this conversation, of course, by keeping it under classified files, but someone in the administration team must’ve read it and acted as a whistleblower, and called him out.

It’s pretty obvious why Trump did this. If there’s an investigation on Hunter Biden, very obviously it would affect the image of Joe Biden and would slim his chances at the election. We all know how much he loves America and wants to stay put here.

So, on the 18th of December, our beloved President Trump was finally impeached by the House of representatives.

Just like India has Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, the USA has House of Representatives and Senate. The House of Representatives is the Lok Sabha and Senate is the Rajya Sabha.
House of Representatives consist of 235 Democrats and 199 Republicans.
Any guesses who said yes for the impeachment? That’s right all 235 votes said yes for the impeachment, hence having a majority over the 199.
So, this is just an official charge against Trump.
Does this mean he will be removed from Presidency?

Why you ask?
Because now this has to go to the Senate, and the  President can be convicted and removed from office with the support of at least two-thirds of the Senate (that is 67 Senators in the 100-member U.S. Senate). In the current Senate, the Republicans have a majority with 53 seats, while the Democrats have 47 (including two Independents). This means, for Mr. Trump to be convicted, the Democrats have to make sure that none of their Senators crosses the party line and at least 20 Republicans do that and vote for the conviction — an impossibility in the true sense.

Donald Trump himself said, and I quote, “It doesn’t really feel like we’re being impeached. And I don’t know about you but I’m having a good time, it’s crazy

So If it was obvious that he wouldn’t get removed then why did they go through with it?
Democrats say it is their constitutional duty to start the impeachment proceedings as the President’s actions threaten the Constitution. The underlying message is that as the next election is less than a year away, the voters can decide whether they want to re-elect a President who has been impeached by the House. So basically, it’s to give the citizens some food for their thought. Whether or not they want to elect such a President for their next term. God bless America's young minds.
